Chart your own course by your heart's magnetic pull toward true north.

I love this quote from Martha Beck.

I think that one of the reasons that many women feel such stress and anxiety in their 40’s and 50’s is because they have spent so long following signs made by others. We’ve worked so hard learning in and climbing ladders to places we suddenly (or not so suddenly) realize that we have absolutely no interest in reaching.

We chase other people’s definition of success and then wonder why it feels so empty and dissatisfying when we achieve it.

16 years ago I read “Finding Your Own North Star” by Martha Beck and a few months later had the absolute pleasure of spending a blissful few days with Martha and a group of coaches in training in Arizona. Five years later, I trained as a Master Coach with Martha which was definitely my heart’s magnetic pull toward my own true north.

My mission with The Midlife Courage Project is to help women in their 40’s and 50’s to wipe the map clean and to chart their own course in this next chapter of their lives.

What would that look like for you? What things would you stop doing? What activities, places and people would you find yourself drawn to if you stopped following other people’s signs and started to follow your own?
